Linux and the Graphics Industry by Quintin van Rooyen

Question. What do Shrek, Dreamworks, Avatar and Sinbad have in common?

Linux.

Yes, since the turn of the century Linux has featured heavily in the production process of mainstream animated films, and in the special effects arena.

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas was the first hollywood production created entirely on Linux. While the original Shrek used Linux entirely for the rendering process, in Sinbad, the animaters worked directly on 250 Linux workstations. Continue reading

EASY SEO or DIYSEO

I received this link from a colleague. “http://www.diyseo.com/” , I signed up and did a few hours of DIY SEO , WOW, SEO has never been more simplified and easy to do. I started with our logo design and web design company ThinkTank just to see how accurate this website would be! To my amusement it was very accurate.

SEO has been a recent focus, and I have started with the more advanced link building and social networking. I don’t think anybody can be the master of the mentioned fields as Search Engines keep on improving the algorithms and changing things. But all respect to DIYISEO, if I had the knowledge of this website a year ago I would  of saved hours and hours of work.

Successful Logo Design

Ever wondered what makes a logo design successful? These two things: distinctiveness and simplicity. The purpose of a logo design is to help customers identify a business; creating a brand image. The more unique a logo design is, the more recognizable it becomes overall. However, the more intricate a logo design is, the less likely it is that people will remember it.

Even though some of them might have undergone changes to reflect changing times, these logos have all created a memorable and lasting impression on people all over the world.

Did you know? Advertising Tips…

Users Focus On Faces

People instinctively notice other people right away when they come into view. On Web pages, we tend to focus on people’s faces and eyes, which gives marketers a good technique for attracting attention. But our attraction to people’s faces and eyes is only the beginning; it turns out we actually glance in the direction the person in the image is looking in.

Logo 101

5 steps to Logo 101

  1. Keep it simple, clean cut and balanced.
  2. Dimensions, dimensions, dimensions! If your logo is not creatively balanced, you may struggle with your marketing. Keep the asymmetric balance in mind.
  3. Great logos work on two-tone colours. If your logo doesn’t work on black and white or one colour printing, it’s not likely to work on other colours.
  4. Your logo should have relevancy to your company.  The aim is that your clients immediately associate that logo design with you and no one else.
  5. Ask an audience what they think of your logo. Your taste might fall short of your primary business goal.
